Oct 27th 2011 - Pirates Gold
Day 4 of value week brings us a mild-medium bodied gem. Today's cigar is the Pirates Gold Rothschild in a 5x50 vitola. Pirates gold features it's wrapper and binder from Ecuador and it's fillers from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Brazil. Pirates Gold is a solid one trick pony. You won't get tons of complexity out of this cigar but what you do get is a consistently good cigar with woody and tobacco flavors throughout. Anytime you you want to have a cigar while mowing the yard, raking leaves, etc this is a perfect cigar for that especially when you factor in it's average price point of $1.50.

Just discovered your blog-nicely done! My "go to" value stick is the Punch London Club. The last time I bought a box, it ran around $1.60 a stick. Nice flavor and excellent construction.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bruce! I will have to keep an eye out for that cigar and feature it on the blog if I find any.
