Dec 30th - Camacho Pre-Embargo

Number #1 in TheDailyCigar's Top 5 countdown of new to me cigars of 2011 brings us the Camacho Pre-Embargo which only comes in a 6x48 vitola. The Camacho Pre-Embargo features a 1999 Vintage Jamastran Corojo Wrapper and features fillers that include authentic pre-embargo Cuban tobacco. It has a classic pig tail cap and closed foot that both pay homage to classic Cuban cigars. It has full flavors of Classic Cuban tobacco, creamy spice, and nuts with hints of leather and pepper. I smoked this cigar back on my birthday and all I can say is that it is phenomenal. The Pre-Embargo is one of the greatest cigars I've ever had the pleasure of smoking.

Dec 29th 2011 - Room 101 Namakubi

Number #2 in TheDailyCigar's Top 5 countdown of new to me cigars of 2011 brings us the Room 101 Namkubi Roxxo in a 4x48 vitola. The Namakubi is a special limited release blend by Matt Booth that he is producing in his collaboration with Camacho. The Namakubi is steeped in Samurai history as Namakubi in Japanese means "Freshly Severed Head". The Namakubi sports a Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with a Honduran binder while featuring Honduran and Dominican fillers. The Namakubi features notes of espresso, wood and leather throughout with a slightly sweet finish to round out it's balanced complexity. This cigar from first light to nub always leaves me wanting to light another one up.

Dec 28th 2011 - Man O War Puro Authentico

Number #3 in TheDailyCigar's countdown of new to me cigars of 2011 brings us the Man O War Puro Authentico Corona in a 5x42 vitola which is it's only size. Originally conceived as AJ Fernandez's personal blend to smoke on a day to day basis he was finally convinced by the guys at cigar.com to make it a mass production cigar. Thankfully for us he did. Coming from Tabaclera Fernandez the Puro Authentico has a mix of Nicaraguan long fillers and an Esteli Habano wrapper from Nicaragua. It has a pig tail cap and an unfinished shaggy foot. It has flavors of earth, leather and tons of spice. This cigar blew me away and I feel it will you too.

Dec 27th 2011 - San Lotano Oval

Continuing TheDailyCigar's top 5 new cigars to me of 2011 countdown #4 is the San Lotano Oval Toro in a 6.5x54 vitola. San Lotano is another one of AJ Fernandez's masterfully blended lines. The Oval is the newest addition to the line. The Oval features a 4+ year old Habano 2000 wrapper, a Nicaraguan Binder and a mixture of fillers from Nicaragua, Honduras and according to http://ajfernandezcigars.com/products/oval some of AJ Fernandez's secret filler. Hailing from Tabaclera Fernandez in Esteli, Nicaragua the Oval is simply fantastic. Flavor notes of light spice, cedary wood, coffee, leather and dark chocolate help to make this cigar as well rounded as the name would lead you to believe it is.

Upmann Sun Grown label features a Sun Grown Ecuadorian wrapper with a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro binder with Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers. This cigar features great notes of classic tobacco, wood, spice and a nice sweetness to round it out and bring it all together. This cigar is a full bodied smoke and has even fuller flavors. What it lacks in complex changing flavors it makes up in a consistent flavor profile that has you looking forward to the next puff. If you haven't had a chance to smoke one of these and you get the chance to do it!

Need everybody's help - Want the Deftones to play my wedding

Everybody I'm getting married on Oct 7th next year to the love of my life in front of my family and friends. The only thing that could make that day any better is if my favorite band played it. I know this may seem ridiculous but I have to try and to do that I need to find a way to share my story with the Deftones on why I want them to play my wedding. I don't really want to make my story public as I don't like putting it out there but when I met them and shared only a small part of it I could tell it moved them, esp Abe, and I more than anything just want to share my entire story with them. In short I am a former infantry Marine who is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Everybody please flood @wbr, @deftonesband and their FB page with support for this and let's make it happen! Like it on facebook! http://www.facebook.com/pages/I-want-the-Deftones-to-play-my-wedding/212770118806006?sk=info#!/pages/I-want-the-Deftones-to-play-my-wedding/212770118806006

They are signed with Maverick, Warner Brothers and Reprise. Please help me find a way to get in touch with them and share my story and hopefully get them to play my wedding. Below is a pic from when I met them in May:

Dec 22nd 2011 - Punch

Today brings us the Punch Magnum in a 5 1/4x54 vitola. Punch has a rich history in the cigar industry. Established in 1840 Punch is one of the oldest brands in the industry. Punch still produces Cuban cigars but also debuted their Honduran line in 1969. This cigar features long fillers from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Honduras with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. It is a very solid smoke with flavors of cream, earth and classic tobacco flavors. I had nothing to tie into today and wanted to feature a brand I hadn't featured yet.

Dec 21st 2011 - Tatuaje Boris

Today brings us the Tatuaje Boris in it's only vitola a 7x49. The Boris is an off shoot of the prolific Tatuaje Monster Series which features a new release every year. First The Frank, then The Drac, then The Face and then The Wolfman this year. The Boris was done the same year as the Drac and is considered an out of costume Frank to pay homage to Boris Karloff the actor who played Frankenstein's monster in the 1931 horror film classic Frankenstein. Only 1000 boxes were produced and each contained 10 Boris which has made it to say the least highly sought after and hard to find. The Boris features Nicaraguan long fillers and binder with an Ecuadorian Sumatra Rosado wrapper. Reviews say that you get a nutty, peppery, spicy cigar with hints of peppermint and leather. I chose this for today's cigar based on what occurred on this day in 1861. President Lincoln signed into effect Public Resolution 82 which contained the provision for a Navy Medal of Honor. The Medal of Honor is the highest award that can be bestowed upon a member of the United States Military. 3475 medals have been awarded to 3456 different people. I chose the Boris to tie to this as just as it pays homage to the tradition of Boris Karloff just as the Medal of Honor pays homage to the extreme sacrifices and brave actions taken by those who have been awarded it.

Dec 9th 2011 - La Flor Dominicana Air Bender

Today brings us the La Flor Dominicana Air Bender Chisel in a 6.5x54 vitola. The chisel is a revolutionary design by the guys at LFD. It's a figuardo that is flattened and reminds me of a clarinet's mouthpiece. The Air Bender comes from the Dominican Republic with it's fillers and binder coming from there as well with an Ecuadorian wrapper. With bold flavors of dark chocolate, nuts, spice, pepper, earth and hints of leather the Air Bender is exceptional. I chose this to be today's cigar as I hadn't featured anything LFD yet and had to get them up here.

Dec 8th 2011 - Gurkha Cuban Legacy

Today brings us the Gurkha Cuban Legacy Robusto in a 5.5x50 vitola. Gurkha's Cuban Legacy is a very popular cigar with a great price point around $2.50 on a box purchase you can't go wrong. The Cuban Legacy has Nicaraguan tobaccos for it's fillers and binder with a San Andreas Maduro wrapper. This is one of my favorite wrappers on the market. An earthy, wood, chocolaty core is complemented by notes of spice, nuts and pepper throughout. I chose this for today to pay honor to the legacy that The Greatest Generation. It was on this day 70 years ago that the United States formally entered into World War II. The United States military lost a total of 416,800 people in the war. A total of 464 Medals of Honor was awarded more than half of those, 266, were awarded post posthumously. If it were not for the love of country and braveness that they showed the United States would not be what it is today. My grandfather was 16 when he joined the Army to go fight in WWII. He was a field medic and was assigned to the 3rd Marine Division due to a shortage of Navy Corpsman. He bravely fought through the pacific war and has been a huge inspiration to me my entire life. I unfortunately lost him to cancer when I was 8 but nevertheless the things he did shaped everyone around him. Take a small moment of silence today to remember their sacrifices that have allowed us to have the lifestyles we enjoy today.

Dec 7th 2011- Joya De Nicaragua 1970 Antano

Today brings us the Joya De Nicaragua 1970 Antano Robusto in a 5.5x52 vitola. The Antano hails from Nicaragua with all it's tobacco's coming from it's home country. An earthy leathery core is complemented by spice, coffee and a slight chocolaty sweetness that rounds it all out. It is called the 1970 Antano as a tribute to the original Joya De Nicaragua blend which was rolled in 1970. I chose this to be today's cigar to pay tribute to those lost on this the 70th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. On Dec 7th 1941 the Imperial Japanese Navy carried out their surprise attack on the naval base at Pearl Harbor. 353 Japanese fighters, bombers and torpedo planes attacked the base. Eight U.S. Navy battleships were damaged, to include the sinking of four. Six of the ships returned to service in the war after being repaired while 2 were unraisable. The Japanese also sank or damaged three cruisers, three destroyers, an anti-aircraft training ship, and a minelayer. One hundred eighty-eight U.S. aircraft were destroyed; 2,402 Americans were killed and 1,282 wounded. The Japanese only suffered the loss of twenty nine aircraft, five midget submarines, 65 servicemen killed or wounded and one Japanese sailor was captured. This lead to the United States entry in World War II on Dec 8th 1941.

I chose this to be today's cigar to honor a buddy of mine who gave his life in Afghanistan in service of our country. 1 year ago today the world lost a great man and the Marine Corps lost a great warrior who's son was born the very next day. Derek you will always be remembered for everything you did and we are eternally grateful!

For the price and the sticks you get it's a fantastic deal that with the holidays approaching makes a great gift for any cigar enthusiast as it covers everything from mild to medium to full bodied cigars. Below you will find descriptions of all of the cigars featured in the sampler. I hope you order it and if so that you enjoy all the smokes and the case that they come in. Thanks!

Photobucket

Tatuaje Cabaiguan Imperiales
Cabaiguan is Pete Johnson's mild-medium bodied mass production cigar. The Imperiales comes to us in a 7x47 vitola. The Cabaiguan has Nicaraguan fillers and binder with a Ecuadorian grown Connecticut wrapper. This is one of the more complex mild-medium bodied cigars on the market. You'll get ever developing flavors throughout with everything from earth, wood and spice to make this creamy smoke keep you guessing throughout.

Photobucket

Room 101 '702'
Matt Booth's first cigar to be released. The Room 101 '702'is in a 6x54 vitola and simply put it's fantastic. All Honduran tobaccos make up this cigar. Flavors of leather, dark chocolate, espresso and an underlying spice make this cigar what it is.

Photobucket

Gurkha Evil Toro
Gurkha's Evil comes in a 6x50 vitola. The Evil has Nicraguan fillers, a Dominican binder and Brazilian wrapper. You'll get flavors of earth and leather at the core with pepper, spice, cocoa and hints of coffee throughout.

Photobucket

Cigar.com Sun Grown Label
The Cigar.com Sun Grown Label Torpedo comes in a 6x52 vitola. Blended by AJ Fernandez and The Beard the Sun Grown Label is my top go to cigar. An Ecuadorian Sun Grown Sumatra wrapper is where this cigar gets it's name sake. An earthy core that is surrounded by a spicy sweetness makes this cigar consistent and enjoyable. Every time I've had one out the person smoking it raves and then when I drop it's average price point on them, around $2.70 on their site, they can't believe it's that good for that price.

Photobucket

Diesel Unholy Cocktail
The Diesel Unholy Cocktail comes to us in a 5x56 vitola. This is one of my hands down favorite cigars. Wrapped in a beautiful Pennsylvania Broadleaf Maduro wrapper it's binder and fillers come from Nicragua. The complexity of this stick keeps you on your toes. With flavors of leather, pepper, earth, chocolaty sweetness and spice make up the blend. You can smoke it down to the fingers and the ash will hold. I had it happen once myself.

Today brings us the San Cristobal Elegencia Robusto in a 5x50 vitola. The San Cristobal line is produced by Don Pepin Garcia in Nicaragua in partnership with Ashton. The Elegencia has a Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper with it's fillers and binder coming from it's home country of Nicaragua. With a woody, earthy and buttery cream core it has notes of leather and pepper that pop up for a pleasant surprise. I chose this out of my archived photos as I'm working diligently on tomorrow big unveiling and love featuring anything DPG on here.

Dec 3rd 2011 - CAO Brazilia

Today brings us the CAO Brazilia in a 4.5x60 vitola. With fillers and it's binder coming from Nicaragua and it's wrapper coming from Brazil the Brazilia is one of my favorite maduros. With flavors of earth, leather, spice and a perfect chocolaty sweetness that ties it all together. I wanted to feature the Brazilia today as I'm busy working on something big for Mon Dec 5th and pulled this photo out of my files to use and figured since I hadn't featured it yet then this was the perfect opportunity. If you haven't had a Brazilia and you are a maduro fan then you might be missing out on something that imo is great.

Dec 2nd 2011 - Tatuaje T110

Today's cigar is the Tatuaje T110 in a 4.3x52 vitola which is it's only size. Only 5,000 of these were made, 200 boxes of 25, and were all sold by a single cigar shop in Hawaii. Hailing from Nicaragua the T110 features all home country tobaccos in it, which just so happen to be all ligero. The T stands for thermonuclear and the 110 is the MM of the cigar. This cigar is a total beast! With booming pepper, leather, pepper, spice, pepper, a chocolately sweetness and pepper this cigar is a power bomb on the taste buds. Which brings us to why it is today's cigar. Today marks the 69th anniversary of when the Manhattan Project initiated the first self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction. This lead to the further creation of the nuclear bomb which as we all know changed the face of not only warfare but the world.

Today brings us the La Aroma De Cuba Marquis Robusto in a 5 x 54 vitola. The Marquis is a new old addition to the La Aroma De Cuba line. By this I mean it was discontinued and then brought back. The Marquis features it's wrapper and binder from Honduras and fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua. With flavor notes of pepper, wood, coffee and a sweetness this may not be the most complex cigars but it is a very consistent with great construction, draw and burn. I wanted to dedicate today's blog to my fiance. She's pretty great :)
