Nov 22nd 2011 - H. Upmann Reserve Maduro

Today's cigar is the H. Upmann Reserve Maduro Robusto in a 5x54 vitola. With a Mexican San Andres Morron wrapper, Nicaraguan Binder and fillers from Nicaragua and Honduras the H. Upmann Reserve Maduro is a fantastic cigar. With flavor notes of wood, nuts, coffee and a chocolately sweetness it is a very solid and enjoyable smoke. I chose this to be today's cigar as today marks the 48th anniversary of the death of the 35th President of the United States John F Kennedy. The Cuban H Upmann Petit Corona was JFK's favorite cigar and I don't have any of those but this one fills in just fine. JFK was a storied PT boat Captain in World War II who later moved to politics and was elected to President in 1960 and was sworn into office in Jan 1961. JFK is considered one of the greatest men to ever serve as the President. From his international and military relations, to how he reached people with his speeches JFK will be remembered as not only a steadfast man but also a people's President. RIP John and thanks for everything you did!
