Nov 12th 2011 - Ashton Heritage Puro Sol

Today's cigar is the Ashton Heritage Puro Sol Robusto in a 5.5x50 vitola. The Ashton Heritage Puro Sol is a joint venture between the Fuente Family and Richard Meerapfel. This cigar features a Cameroon wrapper with it's fillers and binder coming from the Dominican. With flavors of tobacco, earth, a natural sweetness from it's wrapper and a hint of spice that makes it a pleasure for anybody to smoke. From aficionados to the newest enthusiast it will not disappoint. I chose this to be today's cigar to mark the 41st anniversary of the exploding whale incident in Oregon. When an 8 ton whale carcass washed ashore in Florence, Oregon the Oregon Department of Transportation Highway Division decided to try to blow it up which resulted in an epic fail. Afterward they said if another carcass ever washed ashore they would not repeat their same mistake. Let us not forget to study history to avoid making the same mistakes twice as you never know what you might find to help you out in whatever situation you could be going through.

Nov 6th 2011 - Arturo Fuente Anejo

Today's cigar is the Arturo Fuente Anejo Reserva Extra No. 55 in a 6x55 vitola. The Fuente family is known for putting out only the highest quality of cigars. Hailing from the Dominican Republic with all it's fillers coming from there the Anejo features a 5-year-old Connecticut maduro wrapper aged in a cognac barrel. This cigar features a woody sweet core with hints of earth and spice on the finish. I chose this to be today's cigar because a good buddy of mine smoked one yesterday to celebrate some good things going on. He hasn't had a lot of those lately and wanted to celebrate the upswing for him by dedicating the blog to him. You know who you are brother and you'll continue to be in my thoughts and prayers...
