Nov 30th 2011 - San Lotano Oval

Today brings us the San Lotano Oval Toro in a 6.5x54 vitola. San Lotano is another one of AJ Fernandez's masterfully blended lines. The Oval is the newest addition to the line. The Oval features a 4+ year old Habano 2000 wrapper, a Nicaraguan Binder and a mixture of fillers from Nicaragua, Honduras and according to http://ajfernandezcigars.com/products/oval some of AJ Fernandez's secret filler. Hailing from Tabaclera Fernandez in Esteli, Nicaragua the Oval is simply fantastic. Flavor notes of light spice, cedary wood, coffee, leather and dark chocolate help to make this cigar as well rounded as the name would lead you to believe it is. Couldn't find anything in history to tie into today and have been wanting to feature the Oval ever since my buddy Stephen at WBFiller hooked me up with one the last time we herf'ed. If you haven't tried one yet do it. I can't imagine that any enthusiast new or old could be let down with this cigar.

Nov 1st 2011 - San Miguel

Today’s cigar is the San Miguel Robusto in a 5x50 vitola. San Miguel is a box pressed beauty from AJ Fernandez. San Miguel features a Ecuadorian Sun Grown Sumatra wrapper with its long fillers coming from Jamastran in Honduras and Esteli and Ometepe in Nicaragua. This cigar features a earthy core with flavors of wood, spice and a hint of coffee that come through during the whole cigar. I chose this to be today’s cigar because today is all saints day. And I couldn’t think of a better cigar than San Miguel as that is Spanish for Saint Micheal who is the field commander of God’s Army. Happy All Saints Day to all the Catholics out there!

Oct 21st 2011 - Man O War Armada

Today's cigar is the Man O War Armada Toro Grande in a 6.5x56 vitola. The Armada is nothing short of amazing. The Ecuadorian Sumatra Maduro wrapper lets you know you are in for a treat and features ligero long fillers from Nicaragua. The Armada features a great balance of a light spice, earth and a sweet woody tone. I chose this to be today's cigar to celebrate the anniversary of the launching of the USS Constitution. Old Ironsides is a legend of US Naval Warfare. In the 1840's Old Ironsides circled the world and to this day is the oldest floating commissioned naval vessel in the world. During the War of 1812 against Great Britian Old Ironsides defeated 5 British Warships while capturing numerous merchant ships. Old Ironsides took on a small Aramada in it's day and was the only ship left afloat.

Oct 6th 2011 - Man O War Ruination

Today I'd like to dedicate the blog to the late Steve Jobs. Steve was an innovator who changed not only technology but the world as we know it. Even when times were tough he never gave up and pushed on and accomplished his mission and his dream. In honor of Mr. Jobs I choose, with the help of my good buddy Stephen, the Man O War Ruination Robusto #2 which is a 6x60. This cigar's band depicts a Spartan warrior's helmet. Spartan warriors never gave up and never surrendered giving all they had to accomplish the mission at hand. This cigar to me changed everything. The first time, and every time since, this cigar has done nothing but amaze me. It opened my eyes to a whole different kind of blending and cigar. The MOW Ruination is from Nicaragua and is blended and produced by AJ Fernandez. This is a full bodied beauty that has a strong amount of ligero without being overpowering. It starts with oak and woody flavors that develop into spice and leather throughout. Anytime I'm about to light one up I know that it is going to be a pleasure just like anytime I fire up my iPad. Oct 5th 2011 - Diesel Unholy Cocktail

Today's Daily Cigar is the Diesel Unholy Cocktail. Hailing from Nicaragua the Diesel UC is blended and produced by AJ Fernandez. The blend comes in a 5x56 vitola. This is a complex full bodied masterpiece that is full of spice, leather and a strong earthy core. I chose this cigar to be first stogie of the day as it's one of my favorites and has never disappointed. Whether right off the truck or aged for over a year this cigar is always a treat.
